Examines the issue of at-risk homeless youth in edmonton. At the time of filming, there were 270 homeless youth in edmonton. Being homeless isn"t a party on the streets . It"s not their choice to be homeless. The kids wished that they wanted to stay in school. There should be mechanisms to help these kids stay in school. Do more of the investment mindset rather than the charity mind set. Giving money to homeless youth won"t be helping them much: government policies and programs for them would be the most beneficial. Like the saying teach a man to fish, it"ll feed him for a day . Investment model sees homeless youth as people that should be given a chance to move away from homelessness like allowing them to be hired for jobs, etc. Like the no drugs in school policy doesn"t address addiction and drugs in an open minded manner. Familial issues (trauma, neglect, abuse, etc. ) are a big one.
