How does socialization occur throughout the life course: anticipatory socialization and resocialization, an example of resocialization are inmates. Everything is controlled by the institution (highly regulated): for instance, an institution-prison, military, mental hospital, or convent. This is a very interactionist-type of statement. We create reality as we interact with one another and view meaning among our interactions: defining and reconstructing reality, the conflict perspective: The ability to define social reality reflects a group"s power within society: someone with power decided the meanings, the interactionist perspective: People respond not only to the objective features of a person or situation but also to the meaning that a person or situation has for them. What are the elements of social structure: statuses, status: refers to any of the socially defined positions within a large group or society. A person can hold one or more status simultaneously: ascribed and achieved status.
