Poverty reducion strategies are part of society"s social safety net (e) theories of social class. Davis-moore thesis postulates that inequality is universal and necessary. Al socieies we are aware of hierarchical and they are organized in poliical or social hierarchy, that strategies society. Poor perform funcions that beneit those who are not poor. Assumes that people can advance in the socio-economic system based on experience, skills, and educaion called meritocracy. This also assumes that everyone starts of equally, that somehow if we just work hard enough, we can advance. But there are structural issues that people can or can"t advance (ex. We create straiicaion the ways in which we distribute wages etc. Marx says that private ownership of property and surplus create alienaion. As you privaise, more and more wealth generates more wealth (have to spend money to get money), which creates a system where rich get richer and poorer.
