Eugenics: policies/practices aimed at preventing reproduction among genetically inferior. A category seen as genetically inferior were the mentally defective. They were sterilized without their consent and without their knowledge. The alberta government was sued by a woman for involuntarily sterilizing her-> listen to documentary. If they cant eep a job because of their state, they cannot afford to get a place to live. Cant afford medication or don"t like it or are not encouraged to take it because they have no support living on the streets. 59% of those who are homeless in edmonton report suffering from mental illness. You are more vulnerable to homelessness as well because criminal records have a huge social barrier. More likely to be minor sentences and in provincial jails because they are so minor (less than 2 years) 13% of men and 29% of women identified at admission as presenting mental health problems.
