Intersectionality has to be part of all analyses of gender. This week is just the beginning for intersectionality: we need to keep talking about it throughout the course. Race is not a biological category, it is socially constructed. Racialization is a social process produced through hierarchical relations of power. As with other forms of social inequality, race produces one group as dominant, other groups as devalued, disadvantaged, and discriminated against.
