Document Summary

The lymphatic system is a vast network of lymphatic vessels which are connected through the lymph nodes. It functions as a second circulatory system for lymph, which is similar to csf or blood plasma, as well as fats and components of the immune system. Major organs involved are the spleen, bone marrow, thymus, lymph nodes, lymph vessels and gut. Collects surplus fluid (lymph) from tissue spaces. Transportation of lymph to the venous system. Transport system for antibodies and lymphocytes to fight pathogens. The right upper body"s system drains into the right lymphatic duct while the rest of the body drains into the thoracic duct. From these ducts the lymph then enters the venous circulatory system. Dense connective tissue scattered throughout the body. Filter the lymph before it reaches venous circulation. Filtration removes pathogens and if it can"t then it creates more lymph and white blood cells to attack the pathogen.
