Sounds made by restricting the airflow in the pharnynx by retracting the tongue or constricting (narrow, tighten) the pharynx. Eg arabic h, ( crossed h ) backwards wuestion mark. Glottal: sounds made when the vocal folds are the primary articulators. Backwards question mark uh-uh , bottle , ( cockney) This was all going across the ipa chart, now we will go going down. Only need to memorize the english charts, but you need to know where to put them and how to sound them. Manner of articulation the various configurations produced by positioning the lips, tongue, velum, and gltiss in diff ways. Oral phones- sounds produced with the velum raised and the airflow thru the nasal passages cut off.
