State power, refers to pluralism, elitism, marxism, and new right. Folks in power can often determine what happens, thus it is important for people to know what power is. Traditional authority: this is derived from traditional customs and values such as the divine right of ki(cid:374)g e. g. In most cases, most authorities would want people to consent to their authority and do not to coerce people by hiring thugs and etc. Traditional authority was designed to be stable and passed on from generation to generation. Charismatic authority: it is based on the personal characteristic of the leader or ruler. People who are charismatic can come from anywhere as long as they are handsome and know how to speak. Charismatic authority on the other hand is that it may work in one era but would not work in another time period. Legal-rational authority: this is based on status of the office as sanctioned by the constitution/law.
