Indian sub-continent cultures have been absorbed greatly from british. By 1946, india was a country with lots of international banking, business, politics, military affairs this was all because of the british. Its common in politics to point at others so that citizens don"t look at whats happening internally in the government. Even under the british, india was still suffering from famine. Declining soviet union (india"s major trade partner), collapse in the 1980s, see a big decrease in trade and international donations to india. 1980s: see increase in oil prices, indian economy has major downturn. Economic liberation (pm rao): lift a lot of laws that held india back so that india can import and export more. A lot of what happened in india from 1947 1991 (economic retrograding) was all because of politics. If they didn"t pass the restrictive laws, and nationalize industries, india would"ve been in a better position to take advantage. But everything went downstream because of bad politics.
