Ecosystem services are not fully captured in commercial markets. Due to this ecosystem services are rarely considered from economic and political perspectives. How is value determined and how is it measured. Economically may not be possible to attach a monetary value. Two approaches: direct subsidy, treat as a commodity- similar to carbon trading. Environmental conservation based on restoring and protecting ecosystem services.
