May need to look at long term. Offspring may not do well later on if the breeding herd was fed low quality feed. Ruminant should be supplied n to make microbial protein and meet eaa requirements. At the tissue level, mono and rum do not have much difference in terms of aa requirements. Plant based vit d is utilized by pigs but not by chickens. Phytate bound minerals is a problem for both pigs and poultry but chicks have much more of a problem for phytate than swine. Sheep is selective grazer; need to physically process (grind, flake, roll) grain for cattle. Cursing animals have much lower intake than finishing animals because their feed intake is very limited. Early lactating females require the greatest nutrient requirements because she is putting a lot into her milk. Dry females require low nutrient unless she is in poor shape.
