Important for reflections of nationalism as well as creating idea of nationalism imagined community. Nostalgia born out of idea of dislocation. Nostalgia a result of the fact that people are moving from place to place, that they allow changes. Mainly these changes and experience of dislocation or moving place to place coincides with modernity. Rather than looking at is as rebelling against modernity or anti-modern, it is a product of modernity. Didn"t like travel, spent entire life in city of konigsberg. Didn"t think traveling necessary, creature of habit. Passed away, and today the entire city nostalgic for his lifestyle. Possibility of this lifestyle in the 20th c: a double exposure or a superimposition of two images - home and abroad, past and present, dream and everyday life. The moment we try to force it into a single image, it breaks the frame or burns the surface.
