Two different types of analysis used to measure cost- effectiveness of a treatment/health utility include: Qalys are associated with clinical trials and are used in assessing the value for money" of a medical intervention. Example: half a year in perfect health = 0. 5 qalys (0. 5 years x 1 utility) Dalys are widely used in developing countries to measure accessible health care. At a population level, dalys are calculated by: *a medical treatment with a lower cost to qaly saved ratio is preferred over a treatment with a high ratio* Qaly value = utility value at given state of health x years lived in state. Note: we may not be required to calculate dalys, i just included it to give you.
