Data to evaluate government spending vs house hold spending on recreation is very difficult to come by. In comparison, the local government performance index (2009) showed a slightly different number for ontario. The average expenditure by the municipal government in ontario per household, according to that report, was believed to be (2009 data). The difference between these numbers is rather drastic and among other factors likely as a result of unequal distribution of funding resources to respective municipalities. Looking at individual households spending habits on recreation and culture, the numbers are even more staggering.
