Discuss poor breathing impairs: poor breathing (too fast, inhaling to long when sedentary) Discuss what the general adaption syndrome is, the various components and how it works: the sequenced physiological response to a stressful situation; consists of 3 stages; Alarm- when stressor first occurs, body responds with changes that temporarily lower resistance. Resistance- if stressor continues, the body mobilizes its internal resources to try to sustain homeostasis. Exhaustion- if stress continues long enough, you usually cannot keep up your normal functioning. 1) trigger a primary appraisal process where an individual will perceive the event as a threat or a challenge. 2) a secondary appraisal process will take over and a comprehensive assessment of both the person"s ability to manage the threat or challenge and their coping resources will occur. 3) coping responses will be initiated and then stress outcomes of the event will depend on the effectiveness of the cognitive appraisal and the person"s coping process.
