Main point: the industrial revolution changed great britain economically, socially and politically, but in doing so, it took advantage of society"s most vulnerable population: children. Legislation took a while to be put in place to protect child rights for work. Parents encouraged work for children to get by. Main point: the royal family under victoria and albert as reflective of the family in the victorian era. There were well defined and strict rules that were expected to be followed. Outline: queen victoria and the royal family. Victoria became queen 5 weeks after her 18th birthday. Shaped a new role for the royal family by connecting family to general public through civic duties. Promoted education and charitable work with their own income. Demonstrated that the monarchy still had relevance to the average people. Attempted to make society better instead of spending their lives in their palaces. Family members sought out to take her crown: ideal of the family.
