Vines, like any other organic entity, require not only water but various minerals to survive. Most of these minerals are adsorbed to the surface of the organic matter or the clay particles in the soil. Nutrients are considered to be macro or micro nutrients, based on the quantities used and their ability to limit crop growth when deficient. Macronutrients: primary: nitrogen (n), phosphorus (p) and potassium (k) Micronutrients: sulphur (s), zinc (zn), manganese (mn), boron, (b), copper (cu), chlorine (cl), iron (fe), molybdenum (mo) and nickel (ni) Chlorosis - bleaching or yellowing of the leaf tissue which is normally green. Necrosis severe chlorosis when the tissue actually dies and turns brown. When advanced, it may dry or crumble and fall out, leaving distinct holes. Interveinal specific colour patterns occurring only in the leaf lamina between the veins. Veinal opposite of the above the colour pattern is in the veins and the lamina between the veins remains green.
