Large western states outbreak, 500 cases and 4 deaths. Walkerton, ont: may 2000, e. coli 0157:h7 contaminated the water supply for the town, contaminated farm run-off entered groundwater reservoirs and wells. Criminal negligence by municipal water utilities management, and falsification of water testing documents: thousands sickened, 7 people died.
