MICR 3220 Lecture 27: Lecture 27
Document Summary
Lcos cause irregular growth of the root hair, the root hair curl and the bacteria get caught in this curl and will start to invaginate. The lcos reorganize the cytoplasm of the root cells as they are being secreted by the bacteria. This causes the cytoplasm so that the infection thread pushes through. Through secretion of the lcos, the infection thread goes through the cell so that the infection thread is in the center of the plant cell. At the tips of the branches we will end up in different cells. From this tip it will release individual bacteria cells. These bacteria are surrounded by a membrane the host membrane from invagination. Once the bacteria are inside the membrane they differentiate and develop into a bacteroids. These differentiated bacteria are membrane bound and enlarged. The lco"s will start to undergo root cell division and enlargement. This results in uncontrolled growth of the roots.
