Popularity arc: style iniially restricted to one area/group, achieves mainstream appeal & then retreats to a restricted audience (ex. punk) Simple verse form: series of verses, all which use same underlying music & contains no chorus or bridge secions, but the verses may contain a refrain. Instrumental verse: secion that repeats the music of the verse, without the singing & with an instrument soloing (guitar, saxophone & keyboard solos are most common) Bar/measure: count out a song by beats, usually bars have the same # of beats in them throughout a song (not always though) Rhythm: organized paterning of temporal dimension in music. Meter & meter classiicaion are aspects of the broader aspect of rhythmic organizaion.
