Document Summary

In order to say your choice is free, it has to be the case that you could"ve done otherwise if you had so chosen. Would have done a different action; if the whole causal history had been different, then one would have done otherwise. What conditions must have been present for you to be responsible for that action. Person"s action is free if they acted because of factors that are responsive to their reasoning process. Example, heroin addict would decide not to take more drugs but still would and therefore would not be acting freely. Action is an expression of your psych, of the real you. If determinism is true, it will still be true, ultimately we will get to causes that were beyond someone"s control. Acting because they were made to act that way. Only making a free choice when you"re aware of a moral dilemma, torn. Problem of free will arise even for a dualist.
