Lots of problems have to be dealt with regarding expression of religious principles: sikh members of rcmp being allowed to wear turbans. Key policies with people living longer: pension plan: how do we fund this when people are living much longer, dependency ratio: more dependent on younger members to fund the rest of society. Current and future concerns: future of oas, immigration, mandatory retirement, health system. Political culture: fragment theory: very aligned with britain and eventually we fragment but rely on british, very boring, formative events theory: no big events driving our political culture. Canadian political culture: democracy: the freedom to elect our own dictators, popular sovereignty: problem for canada because it was never founded on popular sovereignty, founded by britain, political equality, political freedom, majority rule.
