Read issues in canadian politics chapter 4 and chapter 2 (pages 24-37) Tommy douglas the father of medicine : fought to bring free public medical care to the people of his province, he was devoted to social causes that improved the lives of all canadians. Political culture this term is defined as the fundamental political values, beliefs and orientations that are widely held within a political community: ex: the peace tower on parliament hill, the charter of rights and freedoms. Political disclosure the way in which politics is discussed and rhetoric that is used. Political socialization new generations and immigrants are socialized into the political culture through the educational system; the media; exposure to families, organizations. A political culture usually evolves gradually as new events lead to changes in thinking. Keys to political culture are the dominant values of society: views concerning freedom, equality, order, security, justice, prosperity.
