The world bank defines absolute poverty, which exists when people are living on . 25 or less per day. Thomas hobbes said, in its natural state, the life of man is nasty, brutish and short. Development is not black and white; it is more a process of change. Rise of mass consumerism, rise of middle class (people had tvs, which led to advertisements. This caused individuals to want these items, spend money on them and create economic. People felt very good about what was happening at this time. Western europe also recovered quickly after the war, began trading with the us which created more economic progress. This progress did not reach to poor nations in developing world. Modernization theorists think that modern" values, technologies ad institutions are needed for societies to develop and progress. Modernization theory is a description and explanation of the processes of transformation from tradition/underdeveloped modern/developed societies.
