Western doubters: those who are not convinced that democracy actually lives up to its names, democracies are influenced by think-tanks, corporations, or are too bureaucratic, democracy is good for citizens according to amartya sen. It is a means for addressing the most fundamental challenge a country could face, the threat of starvation. Democracy fights famine: huntington: political order in changing societies, when countries are developing you may think that countries become more peaceful as they develop and modernize. However this is not the case, instead there is upheaval, i. e. the rich become poor, and the powerful become weak, the weak become strong. There is a lot of role flipping which can cause violence and conflict. His argument is that states do not need democracy, they need political order, i. e. his idea is more so against democracy. Order and authority are the solutions, not democracy. The communists came above ground to fight in the elections.
