States need to have power and authority to be able to restore order. Anarchy prevents anyone from doing anything but trying to survive: liberals want more democracy, realists want more authority, ideational explanations, certain religious groups do not recognize the authority of mere mortals. Do not recognize humans for being able to make laws the only person that can do that is god. Many of the big faiths have these views. Fundamental to ideational violence is this need to reject the existing man-made system of governance and instead allow for gods rule: marxists or revolutionary marxists are put in this category of ideational violence. The dominant groups will not abdicate their position voluntarily. I. e. the rich and powerful will not give up their position. The only way to have a truly egalitarian system is to overthrow capitalism and you need to use violence to do so.
