A connotative meaning that includes all the mental associations, feelings and private assumptions triggered in a listener"s mind . The southern world, if your latitude is 20 degrees our country must be poor. The impoverished world, naming the place specifically on their stance with poverty. Those countries that are not developed do not have much in the way of industry. Western countries such as japan are developing faster than many third world countries. Colonialism has a lot to do with the temporary condition of countries. Countries often had prosperity and low conflict, before they were colonized. Colonialism can be both good and bad an does not neccesarily lead to poverty, it is what you make of it. Sometimes oil can make them wealthy but only because they are tied to a larger global economy. A country like japan is dependant on the economy for wealth,
