Canada has a wide range of parties, major and fringe. Coercion: government"s authority to impose will over its citizens. We give the government the right to coerce us in certain situations. They do this through things such as: taxes, they have authority through sanctions and penalties. Elite accommodation: government policies emerge from the interaction of elites. These elites come from the same socioeconomic standpoint: the system is based upon elite accommodation, those with power keep power.
