Private sector: the sector of economic society that sits in a competitive environment and strives to maximize pro ts for the owners, be they corporations, family owned businesses, or self-employed individuals. Public sector: institutions and agencies that belong to the state, concerned really with acting in the public interest* (health, education, ) Third sector: voluntary, non-pro t organizations that contribute to the general good of the public. (red-cross, churches, foundations, advocacy groups) Generally most of us will be employed in one of these sectors. Public sector exists at different levels (federal, provincial) Executive bureaucracy: mainly executive bureaucracy talked about today.
