We must also consider that we are voting for a person to lead us (which may require a shift in decisions) therefore trudeau could change his original promises due to the circumstances so long as they are justified. 338 ridings, person with the most votes wins (even without a majority) Ideological/programmatic parties- having an ultimate stance on something , distinct worldviews(legalizing marijuana example), bloc quebecois is an example. Need 250 electors to become a political party. 1867-1917- patronage politics and caucus parties, notes on patronage (sid noel)- old and new , responsible government, the label of tory party for conservatives. 1921-1957- brokerage politics and ministerialist parties, quebec shifts to the liberal party.
