This constructs male and female/ men and women"s authority: pictures of the family all looking at the man or the man coming home to the woman have a food made. In some cases, woman"s authority in the private sphere makes them more powerful than men. It"s not as specific as the economic categorization but is usually an indication of political and economic dependence. Third world, developing countries, global south: majority of the world, more than 50% of the population (women) this is the case everywhere, not just in the global south. Enloe on agency: page 8 yet even a woman who is victimized is not mindless , complex dance of power relations. All of these structural elements tell us that there is no political space for women to make demands or have authority. However, in this case they drew their authority as mothers. So women used their private authority to gain power in the public sphere.
