Peacekeeping or any of its derivatives do not exist in the un charter. Cold war peacekeeping, veto powers interfere with missions. Peacekeeping controversies, the gov"t did not want ppl to know that. Canadians were in full on battles because they are supposed to be peacekeepers. Biggest problem: peacekeeping is a myth, we are a war fighting nation and supported our allies in times of war. Canada is trying to get a seat on the non permanent security council. Harper was prime minister we lost our seat on the security council. We are a middle power, internationally speaking the un. Harper years: lost the seat on the security council for the first time since the formation of the council, abandoned un peacekeeping, focus on military.
