Can"t just ask an infant how they experience the world. They can"t, but they still have the abilities. The way that was testing them, was bad-same for infants. Present male voice until infant shows boredom in a response you"re measuring (habituation) Change stimulus to female voice, if infant detects the change, they should a response (dishabituation) i. e. infant distinguish blue from green-show blue square, then green square. Used to determine if an infant can detect a stimulus at all. Measure infant"s brain waves through electrodes when you present a stimulus. Pattern of brain waves will change if they do. Used to determine what stimulus an infant prefers. Infant is given a special pacifier that responds to sucking rate. If they suck at a certain rate, they get access to a certain stimulus.
