Document Summary

Genetically programmed behaviors that occurs when circumstances are appropriate and that require no learning. Typically we start with this such as the desire to eat or drink and we learn our preferences. These two work together just like nature and nurture. Because we look at these two as such extremes theorists we are to learn more. Instincts are motivators of behaviour; impulses from within an organism that lead to the initiation of action and behavior (e. g. , modesty, jealousy etc) Instinct is what makes you do a particular thing. Motivators are the impulses that came from within ourselves that initiate a certain behaviour. One way to think about this is james conceptualized impulses as fuel fuel comes from (in his mind) the genetic background and it"s there to help you survive by motivating behaviour. There is no differentiation from impulse and reflex you could essentially say anything that helps you suvive is an impulse.
