Predisposition some form of instinctual behaviour that is inborn (unlearned) that somehow helps or interferes with learning. The separation in time between the cs and the us is a critical determinant of conditioning learning is unlikely to take place at delays of more than a few seconds. Any cs can be a cs they are all the same, any natural phenomenon chosen at will can be converted into a cs. Taste-aversion learning: exposed rates to lavoured water and (water in conjunction of light or noise) bright-noisy water, exposed rats to x-rays gastrointestinal disturbance + nausea, tested drinking of the two waters after x-ray exposure, control experiment with foot-shock. Paired drink with foot-shock: nausea (us) could not be conditioned to light-noise, nor fear/pain/stress (us) could be conditioned to a taste, taste-aversion conditioning occur at delays of over 1 hour. Taste reactivity: flavoured solution (taste) = cs. Sucrose tongue protrusions (tongue licking lips: drug (whatever is put in the water) = us.
