Culture compromises the human made part of the environment and the social institutions of the society such as norms, rules, and laws (herskovits, 1955). Has to do with the social institutions ex. Canadian government only allows someone to have one spouse while in serbia you have four. In some cultures, i would be considered normal. The slight differences between people is the impact of what we think and what we see. Ecology shapes culture the moment you shape culture, it shapes you. Culture comes from ecology and social behaviour comes from culture. There are cultural differences in practicing social behaviours & interpreting experiences. Basically explaining that in general everyone does the same thing but in different ways, such as eating, emotions, sexuality, religion. Humans are more similar to one another than different (brown, 1991) Independent self is part of self-concept ex. I like dogs, i play guitar, i believe in peace.
