There are expectations on how we will behave based on who our audience is. In nyc: a young woman brutally attacked and raped on the street, screaming and yelling for help, people looked out their windows, nobody helped her. They all said they thought somebody else would call. The group that we"re in at any given time, and the social control that that group has on us, has a massive impact on the way we behave. Non groups: category: those with a status in common, such as ethnicity and occupation. Crowd: non-interacting group, such as an audience.
