Threat to remove positively valued stimuli (loss of loved one, divorce etc. : removal (or threat to remove) positively valued stimuli. Internal factors: presentation (expected) of negative or harmful stimuli. Lead to criminal behaviour, or attempt to stop negative stimulus. Blame others, less concerned about hurting others. Expected utility principle: crime is assumed to be calculated and deliberated. Subliminal target, motivated offender, lack of capable guardians = crime. Motivated offenders for people or situations that would be suitable target. If necessary controls are not in place therefore environment is conducive to crime. Increase in youth crime was result of number of temptation available and lack of parental control.
