Highly structured environments in which all inmate movements are controlled by staff. Legal and moral authority: (comes from functional relationships with inmates) Discretion: which rules to enforce, when to enforce those rules etc. Processing of offenders into correctional institutions whereby the offender is psychologically and materially stripped of possessions that identify him or her as a member of the free society. Deprivations experienced by inmates (e. g. , loss of autonomy, privacy, security, and freedom of movement and association) Patterns of interaction and the relationships that exist among inmates. Process by which inmates become socialized into the norms, values, and culture of the prison. Inmates who have become prisoned to such a degree that they are unable to function while free. Drugs and alcohol are everywhere and i urge you to avoid that trip.
