Girls are targets of abuse within the family more than boys. 79% of victims of family-related sexual assaults are girls. 55% of physical assaults by family members are against girls. 93% of reported adult sexual assault victims are female. Almost 50% of ontario high school girls have experienced unwanted sexual comments. 80% of victims of dating violence are female. Only 10% of all sexual assaults are reported to police. Legislation: spouse may be charged in criminal code, 1983, sexual harassment in human rights code, 1990, criminal harassment in criminal code, 1993.
