Blocked opportunities exist in some parts of the social structure creating strain in goals/means. Criminal gangs lower-class individuals who have criminal behaviours akin to a small business. Retreatist gangs consist of people who retreat into substantial drug or alcohol use. Conflict gangs fight for status and power in the neighbourhood via the use of violence. Negative affect anger, depression or anxiety, added when strain emerges with negative affect. Middle-class measuring rod lower-class boys find difficult to love up too (inequalities)
