Charges laid by the police in the police station. Not obligated to say anything unless you want to but it can be used against them. Counsel: scc (2010) not absolute. Police just asking questions and you don"t have right to defense attorney. Hope that the longer they keep you, the more likely you will say something. Interrogations not allowed to have a lawyer during here. Conditions can consult a lawyer through the phone but you can"t stop the interrogation and consult them for the second time. Can ask for name/address and questions not related to the crime. A police officer can brush off their right. Police are skilled at lying and to break them down. Do whatever it takes to get a confession. Wrongful convictions on crimes that they"ve provided false confessions to.
