Document Summary

The first one is the one you would find in a peanut. The second is a vascular seed and the third is a monocot seed. A key difference to be noted is what happens to the endosperm. Note: the endosperm contains starch, lipid, and other nutrients. Thus most of the storage for nutrients will now be in the cotyledon. In the second seed we have two very flatten cotyledons and the most of the endosperm (blue part) is still present (acting as the food resource). The ram (at the bottom) is shown and so is the sam (which is in-between the two cotyledons). Finally in the monocot the majority of the storage endosperm still being present, there is a tiny embryo (small yellow) with the sam (being on top of it) and. Ram (being at the bottom of it) and a cotyledon near the embryo. Thus the embryo growth is suspended and the metabolism is barely ticking over.
