Please review the class when we covered the line width, round cap etc. Round the edge of, ie the red line width together. The caps of lines can be ended. In assignment only going to draw the outline , the yellow one. You can memorize parametric equation for line and segment but not for circle. When you draw one in opengl you do not get convex hull but there are purposes when the hull can be useful. If i draw a line, from any inside area to outside, then we count the edges. The other one - non zero winding number. Every edge has a direction from one vertex to another. If we take a line fm outside and extend to infinity crossing the polygon, the edge crosses from left to right or right to left, If it goes from right to left we will add one. If in other direction from left to right subtract one.
