Humans have evolved certain characterisics to solve adapive problems, that is, how to adapt to and survive under various biological and environmental condiions. When men and women face diferent adapive problems, then gender diferences are likely to emerge: social context. Gender diferences in a variety of characterisics depends on the context in which they occur or how they are measured. Social inluences inluence how people act and react and if they are in public, they will act accordingly to the norms. If you state something such as spaial abiliies and you include some gender diferences, men perform beter but once you remove the gender diferences, they perform the same: social role therapy. Suggests that men and women have developed diferences due to diferent roles they hold in society. What appears as a gender diference may really be a power or status diference, due to the greater value and power placed towards men.
