Before 1950, chinese governed tibet with unfree labour practice. Described as feudal serfdom or hell on the earth . Ruled by lamas/ gurus max security theocracy lock down. Some places not to preserve translated texts but regional texts. Both china and india built buddhist culture next each other. Both enlarged buddhism to tibet at this time and debated about what buddhism. Decide to take over indian culture and beliefs. Believed to be a main religion in tibet before buddhism appeared: relpachen (815 836)
