Those who we call deviant are typically powerless : all norms/laws of society reflect the interests of rich/powerful , powerful have resources to resist deviant labels , widespread belief that norms/laws are natural/good masks their political character . Deviant labels are applied to those who interfere with operation of capitalism . Society uses positive labels for behaviour that supports capitalism .
