Document Summary
Define health: a balance with everything, mental wellness, physical fitness, eating well (diet), proper sleep, ability to function, progress, being able to perform physical activities to your best ability, health care, supportive relationships, absence of disease. Define illness: mentally unstable, unable to perform daily tasks (brushing teeth, showering, bodily functions, etc, unhappy or depressed. Define happiness: being content with yourself, positive mindset, stability, overcoming challenges. Social construction: nothing we think we know about the world, there"s no objective reality. Stems from symbolic interactionism because it"s micro and it"s relative to our interactions and our experiences with people. It includes health and illness, it"s either fixed or given. Reality isn"t an objective truth that"s waiting to be discovered. There could be multiple realities that compete against each other. It"s difficult to change one"s mind if they haven"t negatively been affected by the situation they"re currently in.
