Document Summary

Growing different bacterial cultures in different agar mediums. Much of the study of microorganisms depends on their ability to grow in different types of culture mediums. A culture medium is a liquid or a solid preparation used for the growth of bacterial cultures. A culture is prepared with selective ingredients that help with the growth and inhibition of certain types of bacteria. There are several types of media can be prepared in order to monitor the growth of bacterial colonies. Selective, differential and enriched media are three mediums that were used in our lab to grow bacterial colonies of different species. After one week the abundance and the morphology of the bacterial cultures was recorded. There were three different types of growth mediums used in this lab. Selective media: selective media allows the growth of certain types of organisms while inhibiting the growth of other organisms.
