Lmic"s have more risk factors, but a similar prevalence of mental health issues, because they have closer knit communiies, beter social support, than higher-income countries (where people are oten isolated from each other) There may also be an under-reporing of mental health stats. 1/5 of canadians will experience mental health in their lifeime (20%) Afects all ages, all cultures, all socio-economic levels. 8% of adults will experience major depression at some ime in their lives. Highest rates of mental health issues in adults are concentrated in the elderly.
